LEGO Friends Live-Action Musical (Live-Action TV Special)
The LEGO Friends Live-Action Musical is LEGO’s first ever live-action television musical, bringing Heartlake City to life. Directed by Paul Becker and executive produced by Kenny Ortega (High School Musical, Descendants), the production combines live performances with oversized LEGO sets and virtual production. Using Unreal Engine 5 and LED volume stages, our team has blended physical and digital worlds to create a playful, larger-than-life musical adventure.
PRODUCTION: Final Pixel / LEGO Group - Live-action musical special executive produced by Kenny Ortega, airing 2026
Worked as part of the VAD (Virtual Art Department) team, helping to conceptualise and block out virtual level designs in Unreal Engine. Focused on layout, spatial flow, and visual composition to support seamless live performance integration.
On set, I took an active role as Unreal Engine Artist where I imported and adjusted environment assets in real time on the LED volume stage. This involved dynamic scene tuning, lighting adjustments, and ensuring assets responded well to the physical performance and camera movement.
Our team liased directly with VFX, camera, and production teams to ensure real-time environments complemented choreography, lighting setups, and practical elements in order to create a cohesive vision between the virtual and physical worlds.
